Interview with the developer

Q: How long did it take to develop Bunny Must Die! Chelsea and the 7 Devils.?
A: It took about one year.

Q: You make your games almost all by yourself, so what is the most difficult point of developing games in general and especially when you think of Bunny Must Die! Chelsea and the 7 Devils.?
A: If you continue to steadily develop a game by yourself, it will be completed someday. So I think the difficulties will become less and less. It is like climbing a mountain – It’s more fun rather than hard work.

Q: What is your favorite genre and title of games?
A: I have so many favorite titles, but if I dare to say just one title, then it would be “The Dark Spire”. The game is an homage to classic games, surreal and stylish, and it includes suspicious world views and a rough game balance, so it is a funny and mysterious game.

Q: Please name a game that has inspired your life or work most?
A: I think, it was “FINAL FANTASY XI“. But if I played an online game today, I would spend too much time for it. And it would have a serious delay on my work as a game developer, so I think, I won’t play it anymore. XD

Q: Please let us know your thoughts about the fact that many people from all over the world are playing your game?
A: It is nothing new to me, but generally this is something very good.

Q: Which one do you like more, Kitty or Bunny?
A: I like penguins. I especially admire the “first penguin”.

Q: Please leave a message to our customers who will buy your game.
A: A video game is something that has been brought by devils, which steals your limited time and corrupts you endlessly… But if you manage it well, a game can make your life much better. So please enjoy it.

Interview with the Japanese Publisher Mediascape Co., Ltd. Director Oyamada-San

Q: Your company is focusing on Dōjin games, so if you look at the past ten years, how have the markets of Dōjin and Dōjin games changed, in Japan, but also in the other countries?
A: I think, the markets have become totally bigger. On the one hand the market in Japan has become smaller, but on the other hand, the markets in the other countries have been growing increasingly while depending on Steam.

Q: We think, Japanese games possess a special atmosphere. What do you think of it?
A: We Japanese use Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji and the latin alphabet daily. And we have a lot of opportunities to get to know different cultures and to experience a lot of creative productions like manga and novels all over the world. I think, all of them are the basement of Japanese creativity.

Q: What do you like most about Bunny Must Die! Chelsea and the 7 Devils.?
A: The challenge level is just about right and I like the music. My favorite weapon is the “spike hammer”.

Q: Which one do you like more, Kitty or Bunny?
A: Dog>>>Kitty>Bunny

Q: Please leave a message to our customers.
A: I think, the fun of playing games is common all over the world, so we will continue to give our best. We hope to receive your support.

Why Strictly Limited loves this game

We are discussing regularly about what makes for a typical Japanese game.

While this discussion is still ongoing, Ben and I, we both agree that Bunny Must Die! Chelsea and the 7 Devils” definitely looks and feels like a classical Japanese game which we would have loved playing on our Super Famicoms ages ago and which we are enjoying today even more, as this sort of games has become a rare commodity nowadays.

Be it the cute 16-bit graphics, the awesome retro style soundtrack (and its optionally selectable re-arranged version) or the crazy story of Bunny being cursed by an exploded cat which causes her to grow a pair of cat ears, Bunny Must Die is a hilariously entertaining and engaging platform action-adventure and we feel the need to expose this game to a broader audience.

So please enjoy Bunny Must Die on your favorite PlayStation system for the first time outside of Japan (fully localised in English language, of course).
