DARIUSBURST CS CORE + TAITO/SEGA Pack: DLC Ship Introduction
Ever wanted to pilot ships from other SEGA and Taito games in the Darius universe? That’s what you’ll be able to do in the content-stuffed arcade shoot ‘em up that is DARIUSBURST CS CORE + TAITO/SEGA Pack! Pick and choose your favorite fighter from a huge selection of ships and burst into battle against the enemy horde.
In DLC mode, six new ships are reporting for duty - from both TAITO and SEGA universes - to join the battle against the evil Belsar empire. Here’s a short introduction to the IPs and ships featured.
Night Striker / Inter Gray (TAITO)
A high speed 3D arcade rail-shooter released back in 1989. The futuristic special task force hover car Inter Gray is a bit on the slow side, but easily makes up for this with its defensive capabilities and weaponry. Homing missiles and bullets are all where it’s at together with a shield that may counter enemy fire. Make sure to always upgrade your missiles by collecting green power-ups!
Metal Black / Black Fly (TAITO)
Released into arcades in 1991, Metal Black is known for its unique beam-duels, hard-boiled story and elaborate direction. While piloting the Metal Black, due to its classic weaponry setup, the bomb and shield power-ups will turn into silvery point-scoring ones while the blue shield power-ups are still in play. The Black Fly’s iconic beam weapon is essential in countering incoming enemy burst beams.
RayForce / X-Lay (TAITO)
A vertically scrolling shooter released into arcades in 1994. Not much is known about the human-made X-Lay fighter, of which only two made it into existence. Targeting multiple enemies with the lock on laser was the key to mastering RayForce, all while blasting enemies to bits and pieces with your main gun. It's all about tactical use of firepower.
Space Harrier / Harrier (SEGA)
Would we be disappointed if the fan favorite blue-and-red suited space warrior Harrier didn’t get to use his classic combo jetpack and super blaster in his Darius cameo? Yes, yes we would! Good thing is that you’ll find things right at home as Harrier blasts into Belsar hordes with the same intensity as he did in his adventures from the all-time classic Sega shooting game series Space Harrier.
Galaxy Force II / TRY-Z (SEGA)
Sega's ultimate "body-sensing" game, a really special on-rails shooter. The Super Deluxe Type cabinet wowed players with its movement: 15 degrees up or down and 335 degrees to both the left or right. The TRY-Z fighter sports a blaster cannon and upgradeable missile launcher weaponry. Employed by the Galaxy Force squadron under the sign of the Space Federation, the TRY-Z is an excellent weapon of choice.
Fantasy Zone / OPA-OPA (SEGA)
Unique cutesy graphics and novel gameplay helped this game become an instant classic. Use the coins you get from destroying enemies to buy weapons! You could definitely use the cool upgrades, even though we do love the initial simple pea shooter this Fantasy Zone fighter comes equipped with. Let’s just say that it’s a wonderful ship to pick against the evil Belsar. Let’s go fishing, OPA-OPA-style!
It’s always a pleasure replaying any of the Darius games, but it’s definitely a next level pleasure to do it in one of the featured cross-IP ships included in DARIUSBURST CS CORE + TAITO/SEGA Pack.
